Great-Grandparents Day

How do I even begin to write about such amazing people? Our family had a really special day last week. We were able to spend the day visiting some of the people most dear to us- our grandparents. How grateful we are to come from such loving, kind, generous, humble, Christ-centered people. How lucky our girls are to know their great-grandparents and have such wonderful examples to follow.

Grandpa B. is always so upbeat and positive. He welcomes anyone at anytime, and has a way of making each person feel loved and special. Nobody is allowed to leave his home without a loaf (or 5, in our case) of his freshly baked bread, homemade jam, or fresh vegetables from his garden.

We all love grandpa's delicious whole wheat bread. The four of us easily down a whole loaf just while we're there visiting. The kids loved being at his house and couldn't stop talking about it while we drove home. Alyssa said, "I could eat a hundred pieces of bread as big as that store." A few minutes later she said, "I wish we lived close to grandpa." Then Katelyn added, "Yeah. I wish our house was stuck to his."

Mark's grandma (ma-mah) is such a sweetheart. It was great to spend time with her and hear some of her interesting stories. She told us about her grandmother's conversion to the LDS church, and showed us her 72 hour kit. She gave the girls each a handful of small, round, tablet looking things (from her kit) that turn into washcloths when they get wet. The girls, of course, are ecstatic about them.

Grandpa and Grandma H.- What an incredible couple! They are such thoughtful, loving, smart, generous (the list could go on and on) people who I admire so much. They send birthday, anniversary, christmas, and valentine's day cards (with the traditional $2 bill inside) every year without fail. They do this for all of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which has gotten to be a huge amount of people. Truly amazing!

Oh Mind, this made me cry (yes, I am still an emotional basket-case when it comes to grandparents). These pictures will be truly priceless to you in years to come. I'm glad you got to spend some time with them.

Did you spend one day just visiting grandparents? That is a good idea. And your grandpa's bread looks so yummy. I love homemade bread. Maybe you guys could adopt me?
